Week 8 - Leaves, Crystals, and Skeletons

Week 8 went much more smoothly. We had a lot of fun with fall leaves and building the excitement to Halloween.

Jonah loves holidays, specifically Christmas, but any occasion to decorate seasonally and he is there for it. He has been so excited about Halloween that we just kept up the theme! He worked on fine motor and hand strength using push pins and a pumpkin. I also made him a Halloween activity binder. Some of the activities were still too tricky but Micah was awesome and stepped in to help him.

Working hard!

Matching colored ghosts to the names of the colors on the page.

On Monday, Emmett and dad worked on their physics lab. It was rainy and cold but the topic was collisions so they took to the great outdoors. Emmett explained to me the next day that it was all about the difference in acceleration and velocity of the basketball and the tennis ball. Smart cookie.  His engineering lab was about bridges. This is not a subject I know much about, so we learned together. He then built a Lego bridge and told me and his grammy all about it. He also plowed through Module 2 of Grade 4 math this week which was metric conversions. Impressive, on to Module 3! He also wrote a really nice narration about what he is loving from the Percy Jackson books. This is our last week on Greek mythology but I am guessing that we may be reading the last 2 of the 5 book series.

How Emmett feels about metric conversions.

Micah began learning about crystals and we discussed the pros and cons of making our own. On Wednesday, we got the chance. We put together the ingredients and then he set his cup in the refrigerator. In the morning... small blue crystals.

Micah is also my fox guy and so we made these cute leaf foxes! Super easy and very fun!

On Friday morning we called Grammy and Pops on FaceTime and we all made a fun skeleton project together.

Here are our finished products! Oh, and Jonah showing Grammy and Pops his creation.

I will do a separate Halloween post later this week. We hope you all have a lovely week.
Bye Soon
